Instead of getting all in a lather about the prominently displayed toilet displays in Potsdam, why not just embrace the situation and make the most of it? Think positive and utilize the situation to the advantage of the town. We could be looking at lawns of dirty, crude, unadorned toilets; but instead our toilets are neat, lavishly decorated and are real traffic stoppers for those viewing them for the first time. For the rest of us, it hardly registers anymore as we drive past. Similar displays are actually viewed as art in some places around the country. Heck, thinking logically, toilets themselves changed our lives for the better and we all appreciate having them indoors rather than having to use the old outhouse on a cold winter night. If you want to turn the tables on our disgruntled practical joker, why not acknowledge his displays by including them in local ads and announcements. Build a toilet float for local parades. Organize a toilet-themed canoe race on the river. Sponsor a fall touch football game and name it the Toilet Bowl. Have a weekend "toilet days" celebration every fall where toilet manufacturers can display their goods and the rest of us can eat cotton candy and play carnival games. Organize a local marching and drill corps dressed in a toilet theme. Take some photos and submit them to art magazines. The whole business is more a curiosity than a slap at the town. Anyway, it's only an insult to the town if you let it be so let's have some fun with it instead.
