LISBON -- Visitors at Lisbon Beach and Campground will soon have access to internet service, according to Michael O'Neil, who oversees the facility.
O'Neil said the board unanimously approved a deal that will provide service to the town-owned campground at a recent meeting.
Chad Rice of New Horizions Wireless will provide access to customers. Rice offers wireless service to residents in rural parts of St. Lawrence County.
Rice said a service fee of $1.95 per day will allow customers to browse the web.
He said lower prices will be available for campers who are staying for a week or more, but details have not been established.
Rice said he offers the same service at Cole's Creek in Waddington and the response has been positive.
"It was very successful there. I know it's something (Michael O'Neil) has wanted to offer for sometime," Rice said.
O'Neil said internet access is a standard in the campground industry at most of the larger locations. He said it's something campers have expressed interest in locally and he looks forward to offering the new service.
"It's going to be really helpful for us," O'Neil said.
Rice said he is currently surveying the property and expects service to be available in late May or early June.
