CANTON -- SUNY Canton officials say enrollment for their online Winterterm session narrowly edged out the record they set last year.
Total enrollment for the 2016-17 session is 1,474, which surpasses the previous record of 1,434, set last year. Classes began Dec. 21 and continue through Jan. 19.
"Our Winterterm session delivers the same quality instruction SUNY Canton is known for to anyone, anywhere in an accelerated format," according to Molly A. Mott, associate provost and dean of academic support services. "The four-week course schedule allows students to catch up or get ahead on credits between the fall and spring semesters from the comfort of their home."
She said some of the enrollees go to other schools.
Off-term sessions such as Winterterm allow students to earn credits that may help them graduate on time or even early.
