Snow, sleet, freezing rain could make travel throughout North Country hazardous on Tuesday

The National Weather Service has most of the North Country under a hazardous weather outlook through 10 p.m. Tuesday.

They say sometime after noon that day, snow, sleet and freezing rain could lead to slick roads and difficult travel.

Leading into that, there is a 50 to 60 percent chance of light snow tonight, with temperatures predicted between 15 and 20 degrees.

Tuesday opens with a 20 percent chance of snow and blustery weather, giving way to 100 percent odds of sleet, snow and freezing rain later in the day with tempertures predicted around 35 degrees.

Tuesday night brings a chance of rain and, in some areas, freezing rain, with temperatures between 28 and 37 degrees.

Wednesday brings a 40 percent chance of snow and then mostly cloudy skies with temperatures in the high 30s. Night hours are predicted to be mostly cloudy with thermometers dropping to around 10 degrees.

This Afternoon

A 30 percent chance of light snow. Cloudy, with a high near 24. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday night - Light snow likely, mainly between 11pm and midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 19. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday - A slight chance of snow and sleet before 2pm, then sleet likely between 2pm and 4pm, then freezing rain after 4pm. High near 35. Northeast wind 8 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday night - Rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after 7pm. Low around 35. Breezy, with an east wind 13 to 21 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday - Showers likely before 11am, then a chance of rain between 11am and noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
