POTSDAM — A Potsdam teen was arrested after allegedly spitting on another student and punching him in the face during an altercation at Potsdam Central School Wednesday, according to Potsdam police.
Raymond “R.J.” J. Hassett, 17, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment at 4:25 p.m.
After allegedly spitting in the face of a student, Hassett struck the same person in the face and continued to strike the student after he had been grabbed and held from behind by another individual, who claimed he was attempting to break up the fight, officers said. Hassett’s actions resulted in physical injury to the other student’s nose.
Hassett was released on appearance tickets returnable to Potsdam court April 5 at noon.
