POTSDAM — A Potsdam man was arrested Friday after stabbing another man with a knife while under a bridge on Sandstone Drive, according to Potsdam police.
Police said they were contacted by Canton-Potsdam Hospital staff at 7:37 a.m. on April 28 to report that a person had been assaulted.
The victim entered the emergency department seeking treatment for multiple lacerations and stab wounds, officers said.
Following an investigation, police arrested Russell P. Snyder III, 22.
He was charged at 2:54 p.m. with second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Snyder was allegedly in possession of marijuana at his time of arrest.
He was arraigned in Canton court by Judge James Monroe, police said.
During the arraignment, defense counsel was unable to be reached to represent Snyder during the felony arraignment, as law required, officers said. As a result of not being able to finish the arraignment, Judge Monroe released Snyder on his own recognizance to appear in Potsdam court May 3 at 10 a.m.
