OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg will borrow $500,000 to cover demolition of the former Garns Supply Building and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.
City councilors say the funding will be reimbursed through the Restore NY Program that was awarded to Ogdensburg earlier this year.
Demolition on the Garns building, 17 Main St., began in March.
Main Street will be closed between Lake Street and Gibbs Street beginning Friday and lasting until further notice.
West River Street is the best alternate route. The closure is expected to last four to six weeks so that the city can complete a demolition project in this area.
City council did not state when work would begin at the former St. Joseph’s Nursing home.
Both buildings are located in the city’s Brownfield Opportunity Area.
