MASSENA -- Massena police are investigating two Tuesday armed robberies that took place in the village. However, the chief says they weren’t random acts and there is no cause for public alarm.
“At this point, we don’t want the public to be alarmed,” Chief Adam Love said. “Two houses were robbed for a reason. These weren’t random acts.”
He did not want to disclose why the robberies took place or where in town they happened.
“I don’t want to release any circumstances at this point because I don’t want to hinder our investigation,” he said, but added that the two incidents are related. “Our investigators are fully involved.”
On Sunday, state police charged Danelle C. LaPage, 36, of Winthrop and Tanner J. McGregor, 17, of Massena with first-degree burglary following a Saturday afternoon armed robbery in Brasher where cash, drugs and a gun were stolen. Read more about that here.
NYSP Public Information Officer Tpr. Jennifer Fleishman said she cannot confirm if that case is connected to the two instances in Massena.
