MASSENA -- Village police are investigating two incidents where junk piles put out for spring cleanup were set on fire.

Chief Adam Love said they received two reports early on Saturday morning, one at 2:49 a.m. on Bowers Street and one at 3:36 a.m. on North Main Street.

He said there were no injuries and no damage to property other than the refuse piles.

Love said there are no suspects at this time. He asks anyone with information can call Massena Police Department at (315)769-3577.

Massena's village spring cleanup for the north side of the Grasse River continues through Friday. DPW crews will clean up the south side of the river starting next week.
