Libraries in Massena, Norwood, Morley, Canton, Heuvelton and Ogdensburg will receive nearly $250,000 from Albany to pay for facilities upgrades.
The Canton Free Library is getting $22,019 for meeting room renovations at their main library.
The state is giving $18,176 for the Morley branch to install a well, septic system and plumbing for a handicap bathroom.
Heuvelton Free Library will receive $7,913 to renovate programming space.
The Ogdensburg Public Library is getting $29,882 for exterior renovations and rehabilitation for the front entrance. In addition, they will receive $125,000 to meet “funding requirements,” according to Assemblywoman Addie Russell, D-Theresa.
Massena Public Library is getting $35,401 to replace an inefficient and outdated HVAC system. Norwood Public Library will receive $10,954 to build a new space for programs and community events.
The money will finance energy efficiency improvements, improved handicap accessibility and building upgrades.
