CANTON -- The village Board of Trustees has made the appointment of the police chief official and made other department appointments.
Former Sgt. James Santimaw was appointed chief to replace former chief Lori McDougal who retired this year. The temporary appointment would have become permanent after a certain amount of time, but the board thought it appropriate to make the appointment official through board action.
Andy Dow was provisionally appointed a sergeant with the department until he passes the Civil Service sergeant’s test, after which the appointment will be permanent.
And two new patrol officers were appointed, Officer Ashley Coffey and Officer Cory Williams.
