After a loss against Cornell in the ECAC Hockey semifinals, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team was not sure if it would have a chance to defend its 2014 National Championship. However, the Golden Knights found out Sunday night that they had made the eight-team field and will travel to Boston College for a quarterfinal matchup on March 14th. Game time is 1:00 p.m. at Kelley Rink at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, MA.

"I am really happy and excited for the team to have made the NCAA tournament again this year," stated ECAC Hockey Coach of the Year Matt Desrosiers. "They have worked extremely hard to put themselves in this position so it was great to know all that hard work paid off when our name was announced by the selection committee. We are definitely going to need to have a good week of practice and get mentally focused to take on a very good Boston College team. They have had a tremendous year so we are going to have to be firing on all cylinders if we want to make it to the Frozen Four. A lot of our players have been in this situation the last few years so they understand what it will take to move on. I definitely expect a fun and exciting game on Saturday."

The top four seeds are Minnesota, Boston College, Harvard, and Wisconsin. There are three ECAC Hockey teams in the tournament, with Harvard, Clarkson, and Quinnipiac earning bids. There will be at least one ECAC Hockey team in the Frozen Four as Quinnipiac travels to Harvard to play the Crimson in one quarterfinal. The other two quarterfinals see RIT playing at Minnesota and Boston University traveling to Wisconsin.

If Clarkson defeats Boston College the Green and Gold will face the winner of Harvard-Quinnpiac in the semifinal round at the Frozen Four to be held at Ridder Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday, March 20. The 2015 National Championship game will be played on Sunday, March 22.

Harvard defeated Quinnipiac 2-1 in overtime in the ECAC Hockey semifinals and then beat Cornell 7-3 in the final over the weekend at Cheel Arena. It is the Crimson's sixth tournament title and its first since 2008.

At 24-10-3, Clarkson is making its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth overall showing. Last season, Clarkson hosted Boston College in the NCAA Quarterfinals and defeated the Eagles 3-1 for Clarkson's first ever NCAA Tournament victory. The Knights claimed the University's first National Championship title after defeating Minnesota 5-4 in last year's championship game.
