Beccia improves NCAA standing with 5K at Tufts

St. Lawrence University's women's 4x400 relay is less than second out of qualifying for the NCAA Championships and senior Ariel Beccia enhanced her NCAA standing after competing in the Tufts Last Chance Invitational on Wednesday night.

The Saint team of Marisa Turner, Hannah Kinsey Ketura Mason, and Carly Stine ran 3:58.64 at Tufts which converts to 3:55.52 with the allowance for a flat track taken off the original time. The time is the 22nd best nationally with 3:54.83 currently holding the 17th and final qualifying spot for the NCAA meet.

Beccia improved her standing in the NCAA qualification race at Tufts on Wednesday. Beccia ran 17:38.90 in the 5000 meters which converts to 17:18.48, ranking 13th nationally heading into the final weekend before the championships. Freshman Lisa Grohn, who did not run on Wednesday, ranks 11th nationally in the same event.

Competition continues for the Saints with the ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston on Friday and Saturday.
