How much did McQueer get from wind developers?

To the Editor:

In a recent letter to the editor, Michele McQueer (candidate for Town Supervisor) publicized all of the money that the town of Hammond has spent on wind-related issues since the new board members took office. Many people are questioning her numbers and even if they were accurate, she manages to leave out some very important information.

For instance, that a lot of that money was spent in litigation because of actions taken by the previous town board members. Or that many of the bills were incurred by them as well. Now I read that she is going to sue the town board, and I have to ask myself how she can be so accusatory of our town leaders about their spending, then turn around and add to the costs. And if she wins the election, will she sue herself?

I think that after posting all of these expenditures, Mrs. McQueer should now post how much money she has gotten from the wind developers so far, and how much she plans to get over the next 20 years if Iberdrola places turbines on her property. It is only right that the public have access to this information now that she is running for office. Is she going to sue so she can protect her future income? The law passed legally and with the support of the voters. No one forced them to vote the way they did. Mrs. McQueer should at least be honest about why she is suing the town. She stands to lose a lot of money if wind development goes away.

I feel this is an important issue that voters need to take into consideration when they enter the voting booth on November 8. To me it makes a vote to re-elect Supervisor Ron Bertram more appealing than ever and something everyone should do.
