CANTON – Who’s got the best water in St. Lawrence County?

There will be a taste-off in Canton Tuesday to try to decide.

Between 11 a.m. and noon at the St. Lawrence County Human Services Building, Rt. 420, employees and visitors will be invited to taste water samples from each of the competing local water systems and vote for their choice of best tasting water.

At the end of the event, the votes will be counted, and the “best tasting water in St. Lawrence County” will be announced.

Although it is not a scientific survey, this local taste-off provides an opportunity to promote drinking water and drinking water issues, and have consistently proven to be a favorite among the drinking water professionals in St. Lawrence County.

Each year since 1987, the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, the New York State Department of Health, and the St. Lawrence County Water Quality Coordinating Committee have co-sponsored an informal drinking water taste test to determine the best tasting drinking water in the county. The winners go on to regional and state contests.

At the State Fair, the “Best Tasting Water in New York State” will be determined.
