POTSDAM -- Substitute teacher training will be offered Saturday, Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SUNY Potsdam’s Satterlee Hall in the first floor boardroom. This six hour training is geared toward those interesting in becoming or improving their role as a substitute teacher.
Topics include application process, expectations, classroom management, navigating the classroom and lesson plans, safety, routines, consistency, anti-bullying, effective communication with students and teachers, and more.
Training does not lead to NYS certification and does not guarantee employment as a substitute. A certificate of completion will be given to all attendees to provide school districts with at time of application. The program is free and available to anyone.
