RUSSELL -- The Russell Opera House will have a slate of events in August. They include:
• Saturday, Aug. 11: Matune Creek, 7 p.m. Cheryl Crowe, Dora McAdam, Clem McAdam, Karen Gonyea, and Mark McAdam are the group called ‘Matune Creek’ whose name is inspired by the real Mattoon Creek, a tributary to the great Oswegatchie River in Gouverneur. They will perform a selection of folk, country and bluegrass music.
• Friday, Aug. 24: Ron Kirkpatrick and his Classic Country Band, 7 p.m. Classic Country plays a mix of country songs from the fifties to the nineties with classic songs of other genres thrown in. The current band formed in 2000. Members are Ron and Josh Kirkpatrick on lead guitar, rhythm and Carter Houk, on stand-up bass and vocals.
• Saturday, Aug. 25: Miss Angie & Friends benefit concert to help Angie Beeler overcome Hodgkin's Disease, 3 p.m. She will play a set of music especially for children. Following this set will be a selection of Celtic music by Cullen's Cross.
There will be a 50/50 raffle and refreshments available at each performance. Admission to all performances is a donation to the opera house.
