WPBS is bringing back the popular high school trivia competition, Whiz Quiz, for its 45th season, with host Mel Busler returning for his second year. A familiar face in Northern New York from WWNY-TV, Busler will guide local students through the fast-paced academic contest.
“After last year, I can’t believe they asked me to come back!” Busler joked. “I’m happy to be part of a public television staple and to work with some impressive young people. I’m thankful WPBS has given me this chance.”
Taping for the new season begins October 6 at WPBS Studios, featuring 31 teams from schools across Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, and surrounding counties. Teams of four students will compete in four rounds, including fast-paced questions and one-on-one faceoffs, showcasing their knowledge across a variety of subjects. The season will conclude with the U.S. Championship match to determine the winning team.
New episodes will air weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on WPBS, starting Monday, October 20, All matches will be available for streaming at watch.wpbstv.org
