POTSDAM – The Village of Potsdam is kicking off the design phase for an exciting new public space, the Fall Island Skate & Art Park, and is inviting the community to get involved.
A public Open House will be held on Monday, June 23, from 3-5 p.m. at the Civic Center Community Room, 38 Main St. The event will introduce early design ideas and offer residents a chance to give feedback and share ideas.
Funded through New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), the project will transform a portion of Fall Island into a vibrant space that blends skateboarding features with public art and placemaking.
“This park will be shaped by and for the community,” said David Thurlow, Director of Planning and Development for the Village. “Whether you’re excited about skating, art, youth engagement, or just creating a more dynamic downtown, we hope you’ll stop by and be part of the process.”
Design is being led by Brad Siedlecki, a nationally recognized skatepark designer and founder of Pillar Design Studios, and a native of Potsdam. With over 800 skateparks to his name, Brad brings both professional expertise and personal passion to this project.
The Village encourages all community members to attend, explore concept designs, and help shape a space that reflects local values, creativity, and culture.
