Unemployment in St. Lawrence County was down in April, according to statistics released Tuesday by the New York State Department of Labor.
The countywide unemployment rate dipped to 4.2% in April, down from 5.2% in March and 5.6% in February.
St. Lawrence County unemployment is down slightly from April 2024, dipping from 4.3 to 4.2%.
The statewide unemployment rate was 4.2% in April, holding steady with the same figure as March.
Rates are calculated using methods prescribed by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
In neighboring counties, the unemployment rate in Jefferson County was 3.8%, down from 4.9% in March and 5.1% in February.
Unemployment is also down in Franklin County, with a 4.0% unemployment rate, compared with 4.9% in March and 5.1% in February.
