NORWOOD– Two finalists have been chosen in the search for a new superintendent of Norwood-Norfolk Central School district.
Norwood-Norfolk Central School Board of Education began working to recruit, screen, and evaluate potential candidates following the retirement announcement of Superintendent James Cruikshank.
The Board of Education interviewed five candidates in the first round of interviews to fill the vacancy.
Brooke Reid of Ogdensburg Central School and Emilyann McGregor of St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES were the two candidates selected as finalists, and will advance to stakeholder group sessions scheduled for Monday, March 3 and Tuesday, March 4.
Reid has 30 years experience as an educator with the past 15 years in leadership roles. Currently, she is theAssistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Technology for the Ogdensburg City School District. She has also served as Elementary Principal, CSE and CPSE Chairperson, and Interim Jr. Sr. High School
Principal at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School.
Brooke holds a Certificate of Advanced Study as a School District Leader from St. Lawrence University in addition to a Certificate of Advanced Study as a School Building Administrator from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
She also holds a Master's of Education in Reading and a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Potsdam.
McGregor has 18 years experience as an educator with the last ten years in leadership roles. She is currently the administrator that oversees curriculum and instruction for Career and Technical Education at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.
She has also served as an Elementary Assistant Principal at Malone Central School and a Principal of Special Education at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.
Emilyann holds a New York State certification as a School District Leader from St. Lawrence University, as well as a Master's of Education in Special Education and a Bachelor of Arts in
Childhood Education from SUNY Potsdam.
Both candidates will have the opportunity to interface with the public at community presentations, which will take place in the high school library from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 3 and 4.
Reid will give her presentation on March 3, McGregor on March 4.
The community presentation will consist of a 20-30 minute presentation by the candidate followed by a 20-30 minute question and answer period.
All faculty, staff, and community members are invited to attend the community presentations.
All groups will be provided with a feedback form that will be shared with the Board of Education
following the community sessions.
