CANTON - Thomas Stanley Burch, 75, of Canton, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving, close-knit family following a five year battle with cancer.
Thomas was born March 19, 1950 in Amityville, NY, he was the son of Russell and Evelyn (Black) Burch.
Thomas graduated from Connetquot High School on Long Island in 1967. From High School he enlisted in the US Navy. After his Navy career, Thomas worked for several years as an over-the-road truck driver which he enjoyed very much. Later in 1989, he switched careers and was a proud New York State Department of Corrections Officer. He gained a diverse range of experience by serving in several different correctional facilities in the state. Thomas retired in 2009.
On August 1, 2015, Thomas married Nancy Sanford, making official, a relationship that spanned over 28 years. Thomas had a passion for working on cars, trucks and all things mechanical. He was the master at his hobby. His love for motorcycles ran deep as they were a source of freedom and adventure, and when out riding it offered him a profound personal experience. He found much happiness in spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was easy to give and get a laugh from and his laugh was as contagious as they come. He collected hoodies, tools of all kinds and found enjoyment in life’s simple pleasures. He was not a complicated man but one that gave and received love freely and whole heartedly to all he knew.
Thomas leaves behind his wife, Nancy Burch, children, Thomas (Rhonda) Burch of Groveland, MA, Jason Burch of Danvers, MA, Karyn (Tommy) Broadbent of Canton, NY, Robbie Werner (Stacy Poutas) of Big Sky, MT, Crissy Burch of Worcester, MA, Danielle (Johnny) Brough of Newton Falls, NY, a few nieces and nephews and several adored grandchildren.
