Five nurses across Rochester Regional Health’s St. Lawrence Region (SLR) were recently named DAISY Award winners. The DAISY Award® is a special honor given to extraordinary nurses for the contributions they make every day going above and beyond expectations in science and sensitivity. Those receiving the Award were nominated by colleagues, providers, patients, and leaders for their actions, reputation, and professionalism.
Those honored this year were Clinical Network’s Aundrea Hargrave, RN; Massena Hospital’s Megan Raimondi, RN; Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s Madison Rowe, RN; and Gouverneur Hospital’s Anita Woodrow, RN. Additionally Ramsey Thomas, RN, was honored with Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s 2024 DAISY Award. Awardees were recognized during personal celebrations that were held throughout the numerous week-long activities of Nurses Week.
“Across Rochester Regional Health’s St. Lawrence Region, our nurses are the steadfast healers and tender hearts that our patients count on in their most vulnerable moments. But their impact stretches far beyond bedside care. Our nurses don’t just work here—they live here. They are your neighbors, your children’s school volunteers, your church friends. They understand the fabric of this community because they are woven into it. That deep connection turns care into something profoundly personal. I am immensely proud of these awardees and all of our nurses,” said SLR President Donna McGregor.
During each personal celebration, awardees were given a Daisy pin, certificate, and assorted gifts, along with a Healer’s Touch sculpture. The beautiful sculpture is hand-carved by the Shona artists in Zimbabwe, and represents the bond between nurses and their patients.
