CANTON - The outgoing St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES district superintendent has announced appointments to two key leadership posts with the organization.

"Following the July 2, 2025, Board of Education meeting, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Darin Saiff as the next District Superintendent of the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services (SLL BOCES), effective August 2, 2025 and Jim Nee as Deputy Superintendent, effective August 4, 2025," said Thomas Burns, outgoing district superintendent, St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.

Saiff's appointment was ordered by the Commissioner of Education during the SLL BOCES July 2 Board meeting, Burns said in a press release from BOCES. The Board President was authorized to sign a contract with Saiff outlining the terms of office, salary, and benefits in accordance with Education Law and the Commissioner’s Regulations. The contract is subject to review by the Commissioner of Education, Burns said.

Saiff currently serves as the deputy superintendent for SLL BOCES. He has held several leadership roles within the organization, including assistant superintendent of instruction since 2016.

"Prior to joining BOCES, he served as Superintendent of the Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District, as well as Junior High and High School Principal at Parishville-Hopkinton and 7–12 Principal at Chateaugay Central School District. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s in Secondary Social Studies from SUNY Potsdam, along with a Master’s in Education Administration from St. Lawrence University," Burns said.

Joining him in leadership is Jim Nee, who will assume the role of Deputy Superintendent, said Burns.

Nee has served as Superintendent of Colton-Pierrepont Central School District since 2018, following his tenure as Principal beginning in 2014. He began his career as a Middle School History teacher.

"A graduate of Canton Central School, Jim earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from Le Moyne University, a Master’s in Secondary Social Studies from SUNY Potsdam, and later completed his Education Leadership certification at SUNY Stony Brook," said the outgoing superintendent.

"It has been an honor to serve as District Superintendent, and I am confident that Darin and Jim will continue to lead SLL BOCES with integrity, vision, and a deep commitment to educational excellence," Burns said.
