St. Lawrence County Democrats are condemning threats made against Congresswoman Elise Stefanik Wednesday.
"In reference to recent threats against Rep. Stefanik and others over cabinet nominations by President-Elect Trump, the St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee stands unequivocally against violence or threats of violence. There are ways to express political disagreement without resorting to intimidation or threats of violence. We wish no harm to Rep. Stefanik and her family," a statement issued by St. Lawrence County Democratic Party Chair Zagrobelny said on behalf of the committee.
Stefanik, who represents St. Lawrence County in the 21st Congressional District, reported that there was a bomb threat Wednesday, Nov. 27 to her Saratoga County residence.
According to a President Elect Donald Trump spokesperson, multiple threats targeting his cabinet nominees have been occurring.
"Last night and this morning, several of President Trump's Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, unAmerican threats to their lives and those who live with them. These attacks ranged from bomb threats to 'swatting.' In response, law enforcement and other authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those who were targeted. President Trump and the entire Transition team are grateful for their swift action. President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation by ensuring a safe and prosperous future. With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us,” Karoline Leavitt, Trump-Vance Transition Spokeswoman.
