CANTON - Following a comprehensive interview process that included multiple stakeholder groups and public presentations, the St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES board has selected deputy superintendent Darin Saiff as the finalist in its search for a new district superintendent.
The final step in the selection process is an interview with New York State Education Commissioner Betty A. Rosa. That meeting is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
Saiff currently serves as deputy superintendent at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES and has been a key leader in the organization since 2016. Saiff’s experience includes roles as assistant superintendent of instruction at SLL BOCES and as superintendent and principal at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School District, as well as principal at Chateaugay Central School District. He holds degrees from SUNY Potsdam and St. Lawrence University in political science, secondary social studies education, and educational administration.
Saiff was one of three finalists for the position. Jesse Coburn, superintendent at Heuvelton Central School, and James Nee, superintendent at Colton-Pierrepont Central School, were also seeking the SLL superintendent post.
SLL BOCES extends thanks to all candidates who participated in the search process, and to the many staff, component district leaders, and community members who engaged in stakeholder interviews and public forums.
