CANTON — Cardboard sleds, including designs of a corgi dog, helicopter and Sasquatch, were among the creations at the 7th Annual Cardboard Sled Races.

The family-friendly races were held at the SUNY Canton sledding hill Saturday, Feb. 8, hosted by Nature Up North.

The materials to make the sleds were limited to using cardboard, duct tape, recycled plastic bags, paint, and glue.

The winner of the sled that went the fastest was Canton resident Josiah Davis, with his ‘Efficiency’ sled.

Camron Reynolds, of Rensselaer Falls, won Most Creative Sled for his helicopter design, inspired by his grandfather, a U.S. veteran.

Brooklyn Gollinger, of Russell, won Most Colorful Sled for her ‘Corgi on the Run’ sled. She has two corgi dogs at home.

Kellen Harrington, of Canton, on his “Team Sasquatch’ won Most North Country award.

Samuel Ersek, of Ogdensburg, won the sturdiest sled.

The sled races were part of Canton Winterfest 2025.
