CANTON -- A Saranac Lake man has been sentenced to 16-years in state prison after being convicted of multiple drug related felonies.
According to District Attorney Gary Pasqua, Ryan Morgan, 52, was convicted of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first-degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
Morgan was also sentenced to concurrent terms of eight years and one year for his conviction.
According to a press release, the convictions were obtained following a five day jury trial beginning Jan. 17, 2025.
Evidence at the trial proved that on Nov. 1, 2023, Morgan was a passenger in a pickup truck that was pulled over by state police, where he was found to be in possession of over eight ounces of cocaine, according to Pasqua.
According to the release, the jury determined Morgan possessed the cocaine with the intent to sell it.
The New York State Police's Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team and Community Stabilization Team, as well as the New York State Police lab's Drug Testing Section all assisted with the case.
Pasqua said he "was proud of the hard work" of his team, including Assistant District Attorneys Dominik Maida,Matthew Peabody and all support staff.
