CANTON — A Russell male who allegedly brandished a knife at children was arrested Friday, Canton Police say.
Village Police report that John D. Latray, 61, of Russell, was charged April 25 with one count third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (D felony), one count fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (A misdemeanor), one count second-degree menacing (A misdemeanor), and three counts endangering the welfare of a child (A misdemeanor) stemming from an incident on Law Lane in the town of Canton.
Canton Police say that Latray was charged after he allegedly brandished a knife during a verbal argument, reportedly doing so in the presence of and toward three children under the age of 8.
Latray was reportedly taken into custody without incident.
He was arraigned in Hermon Town Court before Justice Velez and was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.
