RENSSELAER FALLS — Rensselaer Falls Fire & Rescue is marking a century of service to the community with a special two-day celebration on Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15.
The weekend’s events will kick off on Saturday with a parade from 11 a.m. to noon, starting at the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department and traveling down Canton Street. From noon to 7 p.m., Pioneer Park will host live bands and food trucks, offering entertainment and delicious food for attendees of all ages.
On Sunday, June 15, the celebration continues with a Chicken BBQ at the fire department starting at noon. The BBQ is expected to sell out quickly, and meals will be available for both dine-in and carry-out.
In addition to the festivities, special 100th-anniversary memorabilia will be available for purchase. T-shirts commemorating the milestone will be sold in sizes from youth to adult XXL for $15 each, with larger sizes (3XL for $17 and 4XL for $19) also available. Those interested in purchasing a t-shirt can contact Karin Blackburn at (315) 854-4971.
Challenge coins, priced at $20 each, will also be available for purchase. To buy a challenge coin, contact James Blackburn at (315) 854-4855.
