ADAMS CENTER - Rebecca M. Russell, 68, passed away on December 6, 2024, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, NY after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rebecca was born on March 29, 1956, at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone, daughter of the late Anthony and Winifred (Dunn) Durant. She attended Brushton-Moira High School. She married her soul mate, James Russell on May 4, 1974, at St. Mary's Church in Brushton. They celebrated 50 years of a blessed union this year. She was a homemaker and worked at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena as a CNA and in her younger years was a bartender.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, James, three beloved sons, James Russell II of Ogdensburg, Douglas Russell of Scranton, PA and Timothy Russell of De Soto, MO.
Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop on Thursday, December 12th from 11am to 1 pm. Fr. Ray Moreau will lead her funeral prayers at 1 pm, followed by burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rebecca's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
