DEGRASSE -- Nature Up North will host its first group hike of 2025 on Saturday, Jan. 11 from 10-11 a.m. to Rainbow Falls.
The trail is about 12 miles down the Tooley Pond Road.
This short .5 mile round-trip hike features one of the most spectacular waterfalls in St. Lawrence County.
Park on the side of Tooley Pond Road, 10.9 miles west of the junction with NY-3 in Cranberry Lake. The GPS coordinates for the trailhead are 44.307289, -74.994178.
The trailhead is marked by several large boulders which restrict automobile access.
While only 25 feet tall, the falls sits within a narrow basin creating almost perpetual rainbows as the water cascades over the edge, giving the waterfall its iconic name. Rainbow Falls is beautiful in the winter, prepare to walk or snowshow depending on conditions.
