POTSDAM— A Potsdam man was jailed Tuesday following investigation of an alleged domestic incident on Bay Street, according to village police.

Steven M Veres, 41, of Potsdam, was charged Sept. 23 with one count second-degree assault, one count fourth-degree criminal mischief, one count fourth degree criminal mischief for reckless property damage, and one count first-degree unlawful imprisonment, Potsdam Police say.

Village police report that the subject was charged after he allegedly imprisoned another person unlawfully and physically assaulted them. Veres is also alleged to have prevented the victim from contacting emergency services and for recklessly damaging property before leaving the scene.

Veres was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
