Mark Bellucci and Valerie Stone have purchased the Potsdam Laundry and Dry Cleaners business on Beal Street, and can now be found there most evenings, getting a hang for the machines and performing their first jobs for customers.

Bellucci and Stone said they reopened the business to fill a local need, remarking that the next nearest dry cleaning service operates in Malone. Approaching retirement and looking for a new challenge, Bellucci said “let’s give this a try.”
He says reception for the returning business has been good, with many seeing its return as a need.
Bellucci said many of the machines necessary to complete the work were still in the facility and needed “a lot of work” to make them operational.
Once that work was complete, Bellucci said that he and Stone had been able to start slowly and “practice” with the machines before their soft opening to the public.
Business hours for the laundry will vary during reopening, but Stone said she and Bellucci are currently open by appointment.
The two plan to operate the business as a family and have no plans to hire employees at present.
Bellucci shared that he also hopes to open an arcade in a second building located on the property. He is currently looking into the prospect of leasing pinball machines, and says the arcade concept has also received a warm reception locally.
Potsdam Laundry and Dry Cleaners was originally operated by the Demo family, and was open from 1979 until Sept. 2022. Before that, the business was operated by the Fogarty family.
The business will remain in its original location on Beal Street, behind Pizza Hut and Community Bank on Market Street.
