POTSDAM — The Potsdam Elks Lodge #2074 recently presented a generous $600 donation to the River Queens U14 Girls Hockey Team.
This contribution comes after the River Queens’ victory in the state championship, earning them a spot in the National Tournament in Coral Springs, Florida, scheduled for April 2-6.
The donation, along with additional support from local businesses and community members, will help cover the team's travel expenses to the tournament.
In addition to the $600 donation, the Potsdam Elks Lodge previously provided a $400 contribution to assist with travel costs for the team’s participation in the New York State Tournament.
Potsdam Lodge Community Activities Chair Tim Welpe presented the donation to River Queens Captain Sophia Currier. Also joining the presentation were team players Emii Colby, Kennedy Cotterman, Luciana Frego, Delia Gaurin, Makenna Helmer, Jordyn Scott, Mary Sergio, Audrey Sheldon, and Harper Strack. Missing from the photo were Bailey Aldridge, Madelyn Binion, and Emily McCarthy.
Any business or individual interested in supporting the River Queens with a donation is encouraged to contact Ally McLean at awmclean9917@gmail.com or visit the team’s donation page at https://www.massenamonorhockey.com/news/girls-tier-ii-nysha-champions/19323.
