POTSDAM — Over 150 volunteers raked leaves and sticks, picked up garbage and planted trees as part of the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Clean-Up Day Saturday, April 12.

The many volunteers were a mix of individuals, families, organizations, and businesses. including the Rotary Club of Potsdam, Potsdam High School baseball team, four Clarkson athletic teams, a Potsdam sorority, Potsdam Elks, and SUNY Potsdam Psychology Club.

Among the businesses that participated were LaBella Associates and Casella Waste Systems.

“We are incredibly thankful to be part of a community that works together to ensure our public spaces look their best for both our residents and those who visit, shop, and dine here. Your collective efforts truly make a difference,” said Melanie Flack, Potsdam Chamber of Commerce Director.

The influx of volunteers in downtown Potsdam also brought in more customers to eateries and stores, said Flack, based on feedback from local businesses.

Refreshments that fueled the many volunteers were donated by Park Bros. Coffee, Save a Lot, Stewart’s Shops and Kinney Drugs.
