POTSDAM — The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce has named its recipients of its 2025 Business on the Rise Award. This annual recognition honors emerging local businesses demonstrating exceptional innovation, leadership, and positive community impact.

Following nearly 50 nominations highlighting 11 outstanding local businesses, this year’s honorees are: Stone and Steel Gym, owned by Tim Vollmer and Serenity Counseling of Potsdam, owned by Jessica Royal, LMSW.

Stone and Steel Gym has transformed the local fitness scene by offering 24/7 access and custom-built equipment. Owner Tim’s commitment to his members,  demonstrated through regular feedback surveys, fitness competitions, and local sponsorships, has fostered not only a successful gym, but a strong sense of community.

Serenity Counseling of Potsdam helps meet the growing demand for accessible mental health services in the North Country. Jessica is widely regarded as one of the area’s most compassionate and skilled mental health professionals. Her integrity, empathy, and dedication have made a lasting difference in the lives of many.

“These businesses represent the spirit of innovation, resilience, and community commitment that define Potsdam’s local economy,” said Melanie Flack, Executive Director of the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce. “We’re proud to celebrate their success and continued growth.”

The award recipients will be formally recognized at the Potsdam Chamber Spring Luncheon on Thursday, May 22 at noon. Community members are invited to attend and join in the celebration. Tickets for the spring luncheon are $30.
