POTSDAM– Local metal band Worm Circus will release its first album of recorded music this Friday, Feb. 7 at Potsdam’s Creative Spirit Art Gallery.
The band’s self-titled EP will be Worm Circus’s first release as a band, and will feature four tracks of heavy metal music.
Drummer Ray Stevens says he joined the band about a year ago, becoming the band’s fourth member.
He describes the band’s music as a mix of hardcore and metalcore styles, with a dash of emotive lyrics.
“Visceral would probably be a good word to use,” Stevens said.
Stevens cites American sludge metal and noise rock band Chat Pile as one of his biggest influences, also drawing inspiration from alternative acts Nirvana and Korn. He says other band members draw heavily from bands Converge and Swans.
CD copies of the album will be available for sale at Friday’s show.
The album will also be available online at the band’s bandcamp page, and streaming on Spotify and Apple music.
