Independence Day in the North Country is shaping up to be a crowd-pleaser, weather-wise. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), high pressure over the region will keep skies sunny and temperatures seasonable today, making for ideal conditions to enjoy parades, cookouts and fireworks.
Expect a high near 75 degrees today, with a light northwest breeze around 6 to 8 mph to keep things comfortable. By nightfall, skies will stay mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to a crisp 57 degrees, perfect for s’mores or camping under the stars.
Whether you're waving flags today or firing up the grill this weekend, it’s a classic July forecast or sunshine and warmth.
But don’t get too used to the mild weather, the service says.
A warming trend kicks in over the weekend. Saturday will bring partly sunny skies and a high near 83, NWS says. By Sunday, it’s full-on summer: mostly sunny, dry, and hot, with highs soaring to around 91 degrees. Gusty southwest winds could reach up to 25 mph, adding to the heat.
The hot weather breaks a bit late Sunday night with a 40% chance of showers, leading into a more unsettled start to next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening, with highs easing back to the mid-80s.
The rest of the week brings near-seasonable temperatures in the low 80s and occasional chances for rain, forecasters say.
