At 7 a.m. on Saturday July 27, members of the Norwood-Norfolk Boys and Girls Cross Country teams gathered at the Timothy Opdyke Track Facility to run in a 12 hour relay fundraiser to benefit their teams. The athletes had an alternative goal, a goal of breaking the relay record of 141 miles set in 2014. The team fell short by only a quarter of a mile, running 140.75 miles, a distance equivalent to running from Norwood-Norfolk High School to Utica, NY. Most runners averaged 10-11 miles for the day, Riley Sweet led the boys with an average of 5:48 per mile, Allie Snell led the girls averaging 6:42 per mile. The cross country teams thank the support of their families, friends, and businesses that contributed to this fundraising event.
