Two North Country National Guardsmen were promoted last month in recognition of their capability for leadership and additional responsibility.
The promotions were announced by Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General for New York state.
Thomas McCarthy of Winthrop, assigned to the Company B, 427th Brigade Support Battalion, received a promotion March 14 to the rank of Private 1st class.
Coby Mills of Lisbon, N.Y, assigned to the Company A, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, received a promotion March 25 to the rank of Specialist.
Army National Guard promotions are based on a Soldier's overall performance, demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism and future development potential.
