MASSENA — The Massena Fire Department is warning residents about a recent phone scam involving fraudulent calls soliciting donations on behalf of the department.
Officials say the Massena Fire Department is not currently seeking donations via phone calls and never conducts fundraising efforts in this way.
“This is a scam,” the department said in an online statement. “Massena Fire is not soliciting calls for donations, nor will we ever.”
Residents are urged to ignore these calls and are reminded that all legitimate fundraisers will be posted exclusively on the department’s official Facebook page.
Anyone who has received a suspicious call is asked to contact local police with any information.
