FORMERLY OF POTSDAM - Marjorie A. Jebo Tichonuk, a resident of St. Albans, VT, and formerly of Potsdam, peacefully passed at her home on January 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Marjorie was born in 1926 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Hiram L. and Maizie P. Jebo. When she was a young girl, Marjorie and her family moved back to Potsdam. She was a 1945 graduate of Potsdam Central School.
In addition to being a consummate homemaker and mother, Marjorie loved all things outdoors. Her flower gardens were the envy of the neighborhood. She had a deep interest and compassion for animals, exemplified by the flocks of birds that gathered at her feeders. She loved camping with her family, hiking, long walks, traveling nationally and abroad, and skating and cross country skiing on Lake Champlain. She enjoyed most of these activities into her 90’s.
Survivors include her sons Erick Tichonuk of Greenport, NY, Dana Jarrett (Barbara) of Milton, VT, Donald Jarrett (Lesleigh) of Swanton, VT, her daughter, Diane Jarrett Snyder of Exeter, NH, as well as seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, John M. Tichonuk, her brother Richard H. Jebo, her son-in-law David F. Snyder and her first husband, Albert J. Jarrett.
A private interment service will be held next summer at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery where Marjorie will be laid to rest next to her husband, John.
