MASSENA - The family of Marcel P. Frego, age 63, are saddened to announce his passing on Monday, November 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice. There will be no public calling hours or services at this time. A Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family at a future date.
Marcel was born in Massena, NY to the late Roderick and Mary (Belgarde) Frego on March 24, 1961. He attended Massena schools and began working during High School at numerous restaurants. He worked for Guy’s Restaurant and most recently at Coaches Corner for several years. Marcel, a very talented chef began his culinary career at the age 13.
Marcel enjoyed spending time with friends and family, he was an avid NY Yankees and Montreal Canadians fan, and also enjoyed making yearly trips to the Saratoga Race track. Marcel served many people in his community with his cooking for the last 50 years. He will be missed by the ones that had the honor to meet him and enjoy his cooking.
Marcel is survived by his children: Aaron Frego and wife Sherri of Champlain, NY, Kallee Frego and fiancé James Kersey of Rochester, NY, and Katie Frego of Rochester, NY, along with 8 grandchildren. He also leaves behind memories to be shared by his siblings; Barbara (Richard) Deisn of Indian Land, SC, Charlotte (Vern) LaBrake of Warren, MI, Elaine Weymouth of Clinton, MA, Roderick (Casey) Frego of Houston, TX, Charles (Sheree) Frego of Norfolk NY, Yvonne Frego of Potsdam, NY, Yvette (Terry) Narrow of Potsdam, NY, and Arlis (Jill) Frego of Norwood, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Marcel was predeceased by his siblings, Carman Frego, Carol Woods, Sandra Frego and Michelle Green and a nephew Doug Deboer.
