Man arrested salvaging copper at Ivy Ridge

OGDENSBURG— An Ogdensburg man who was allegedly caught cutting copper pipes at the former Ivy Ridge facility was arrested by State Police today, April 29.

Brian J. Omarah, 42, of Ogdensburg, was charged April 29 with one count third-degree burglary (D felony), one count possession of burglar tools (A misdemeanor), one count criminal mischief (A misdemeanor), and one count seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, State Police say.

Troopers report that O’Marah was charged following investigation of a burglary in progress complaint at the permanently closed Ivy Ridge Academy in Ogdensburg. State Police say that O’Marah was in the building without permission, allegedly damaging property by cutting copper pipes.

O’Marah was arrested and processed at the Ogdensburg State Police Station.  He was arraigned in Ogdensburg City Court, where he was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail without bail.
