POTSDAM – A Union Springs man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a Canton-Potsdam Hospital staff member late July 8 in the emergency room.

Christopher J. Hatfield, 41, Union Springs, was charged with forcible touching, second-degree harassment, third-degree criminal mischief, and damaging property valued at $250 or more on July 8 at 11:39 p.m. at Canton Potsdam Hospital, 50 Leroy St.

Hatfield was arrested on the above listed charges after patrols responded to CPH for a report of a hospital staff member being assaulted by an emergency room patient, officers said.

While being processed at the Potsdam Police Department, Hatfield reportedly intentionally repeatedly kicked police property, causing damage.

The charges are answerable in Potsdam Town Court on July 17.
