MADRID – The following students in the Class of 2025 at Madrid-Waddington Central School have achieved the designation of Magna Cum Laude “with great distinction,” earning a grade point average of 93-94.
Hayden Amo: Hayden is the son of Timothy and Jennifer Amo. Hayden is planning on attending SUNY Potsdam in the fall, majoring in Environmental Science. Hayden was recognized as the WWNY- TV 7 Arts All- Star and has been awarded the Kinney Drugs Scholarship for Citizenship. He has been an active member of our Band, Tri M Music Honor Society, Drama Club, and Marching Band. His involvement in School Musical Productions and Stage Band, as well as his contributions to the Stage Crew, highlight his passion for the arts and his willingness to collaborate with his peers. He has served as Vice President of both the Freshman and Senior Class, as well as the Vice President of the National Honor Society. His leadership extends to athletics, where he has participated in basketball, baseball, and the E-Sports team, showcasing his versatility. Moreover, he has been an active participant in soccer, track, Varsity Club, chorus and Stardust singing group. Hayden's work ethic is unparalleled, as evidenced by his parttime work as a farm hand. Hayden has earned an Advanced Regents diploma with a Mastery in Science.
Aoife Burke: Aoife is the daughter of Eric and Michelle Burke. Aoife will attend SUNY Canton in the fall, majoring in Nursing. Aoife is an exceptional participant in the New Visions Medical program, a pre-college professional program designed for high school seniors interested in pursuing healthcare careers. She has made significant contributions to the Drama Club, participating in school musicals for several years. Her leadership qualities are evident as she serves as the Varsity Cheer Captain, earning 1st Team All Northern honors and leading her team to a commendable 5th Place finish in the Class D, NYSPHSAA Cheerleading competition in New York State. Additionally, her athletic skills extend to playing softball and soccer. Aoife is also a member of the National Honor Society, Outing Club, and Varsity Club. Her leadership extends beyond the school, as she has taken on roles such as a Lifeguard, Supervisor of the school Fitness Center, and a Certified Nursing Assistant at a local nursing home. Her work as a Youth Coach for Cheerleading further reflects her dedication to mentoring and inspiring others. Aoife has earned an Advanced Regents diploma with Mastery in Math.
Violet Foster: Violet Foster is the child of Laura and Brad Foster. Violet will attend St. Lawrence University in the fall and major in English. Violet has earned an Advanced Regents diploma with Honors, achieving Mastery in Math and Science. Violet is very musical, having participated in several school musicals throughout high school as well as taking chorus and Select chorus each year of high school. During the senior year of high school, Violet has taken college classes as well as running Cross Country and Indoor Track. Violet participated in Area All State for chorus, is a member of the school band, Tri M Music Honor Society, the NCSTEP program, Stardust singing group and is a member of the student support group, The Nest. Violet was a recipient of the Madrid- Waddington Youth Leadership Award for being a school leader and was awarded the St. Lawrence University Presidential Diversity Scholarship. She is also the President of The Nest and Stardust singing group.
