OGDENSBURG -- A Madrid man was arrested on Nov. 6 after trying to break into an Ogdensburg school building, and brandishing a knife and a make-shift weapon.
Ogdensburg Police Department reports that Stanley W. Greer Jr., 39, was charged with four counts of second-degree menacing (Class A misdemeanors), one count of second-degree menacing a police officer (Class D felony), resisting arrest (Class A misdemeanor), five counts of criminal possession of a weapon (Class A misdemeanor), and one count of second-degree attempted burglary (Class C felony).
Police said they responded to a complaint on Nov. 6 at about 10:07 a.m. of a male subject, later identified as Greer, attempting to gain access to the Ogdensburg Free Academy School with a weapon.
Police said that when Greer was confronted by the school staff, he brandished a makeshift weapon, threatening the staff. Upon the School Resource Officer arriving at Greer’s location, he had fled on foot, causing a pursuit.
When the SRO caught up to Greer, he turned and brandished a knife at the officer. The foot pursuit then continued and shortly after Greer was subdued, police said.
At the time of this report (Wednesday, Nov. 6), Greer was being held at the Ogdensburg Police Department awaiting arraignment at city court at 2 p.m.
