MADRID— A Madrid male who allegedly struck a child trying to stop a fight was arrested by State Police Monday.
Tomas A. Cruz, 48, of Madrid, was charged May 5 with two counts endangering the welfare of a child and one count fourth-degree criminal mischief, State Police say.
Troopers report that Cruz was charged following investigation of a domestic incident on School Street in the town of Madrid, during which Cruz allegedly struck a victim, and later hit a child attempting to intervene in the altercation.
State Police report that the child was able to escape and contact law enforcement.
Cruz is alleged to have fled the scene before police arrived, but was later located, arrested, and processed.
He was arraigned in Madrid Town Court and was released on his own recognizance.
