LISBON — It was a weekend to remember for Gretchen Braun of Lisbon, as she delivered an epic performance at the 2025 Region 1 Short Course Invitational, held Feb. 17-19 in Schenectady.
Representing Northern TRIBS Swimming, Braun shattered five records and also claimed the prestigious Female High-Point Award after three days of intense competition.
Braun’s standout moment came in the 200 Backstroke, where she set an astounding five records. Her time of 1:57.01 not only broke the Meet Record but also set new Adirondack Resident 15-18 and Senior Records, as well as Adirondack District 15-18 and Senior Records. Earlier in the weekend, she also set a District Record in the 15-18 Female 200 IM, finishing in 2:02.26.
Beyond the records, Braun’s versatility and dominance were on full display across seven events. She secured first-place finishes in both the 100 Backstroke (53.85) and the 200 Backstroke (1:57.01). She also took second place in the 200 IM (2:02.26), 200 Free (1:50.38), 100 Free (50.79), and 50 Free (23.48), and finished fourth in the 100 Fly (56.20).
With this impressive array of results, Braun earned the Female High-Point Award, a testament to her all-around excellence and endurance throughout the weekend.
